Those Idiot Tubers

Ugh... Well, I found someone new to fight with. Perhaps, anyway. I've only received one reply thus far so I have no idea if the person will continue. But here is the fun so far. First, her video. Please go and rate it very, very low: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lIDuLFIjzU4

So, here is the fight thus far that ensued after I sent her this message:

I'm responding to your video in the hopes that you will e-mail me and we can have a full conversation about why you believe what you believe. First, I will address some things you say in your video. Please reply to my e-mail at godginrai@live.com

First off, you say something has to make something else. Well then... What made your god? Of course, considering the first law of thermodynamics which states matter and energy can neither be created nor destroyed it is logical to assume that everything was always here and your creator is unnecessary. The Big Bang did not create the universe, it was simply a catalyst for spreading out the matter that was then in a single point. It is not a beginning; it is simply as far back in the history of the universe we can go.

Additionally, you make the statements that imply you think the US is a Christian state and we atheists should get the fuck out. You mention things like "Under God" and "In God We Trust." Are you aware that many of our founding fathers were either atheists or deists and that the words you mention were not added to the pledge and money until 1954 and 1957 respectively, so we went nearly 200 years without any sort of endorsement of a god? This is undoubtedly what founding fathers such as Thomas Jefferson had in mind. Here is one of his quotes:

Fix reason firmly in her seat, and call to her tribunal every fact, every opinion. Question with boldness even the existence of a god; because, if there be one, he must approve the homage of reason rather than of blind-folded fear. Do not be frightened from this inquiry by any fear of its consequences.... If it end in a belief that there is no god, you will find incitements to virtue in the comfort and pleasantness you feel in its exercise and in the love of others it will procure for you.

-- Thomas Jefferson, to Peter Carr, 10 Aug. 1787. (original capitalization of the word god is retained per original)

Lastly, saying that we cannot prove there is no god is a logical fallacy known as shifting the burden of proof. It is the same as if I were to say there is a unicorn in the my yard and you saying no there is not and I tell you to prove there is not. There is no way you can. However, it is up to the person making the claim to provide evidence for the claim, so if I made such a claim it would be up to me to prove there was a unicorn in my yard, just as it is up to Christians and others that put forth a god hypothesis to prove that one exists or even that one is remotely probable. So far, that has not happened. I look forward to continuing this discussion with you via e-mail. I will try to answer any questions you may have about atheism and I will provide evidence for my claims, so I would appreciate that you do the same.

Here is her stunning response. Yes, all spelling is correct...

uincon? I don't have to see something to know it's there. I would believe you. atheist think Christianity is a set of rules. which is false. however, Calumbs was Christian and the bible gives you the furture then any other book. he knew the world was round. now how was that in the bible 2,000 years ago?

My thus far unanswered rebuttal:

Please spell check next time. It took me a bit to realize you meant "Columbus". In any case, your ignorance of history and the Bible is staggering. The Bible actually says the Earth is flat and not moving. I will provide quotes below to that effect as well as some other errors in the Bible.

First, it is a misconception that Columbus was the guy that decided the Earth was round. The idea had been around for thousands of years. The Greeks calculated the Earth was round mathematically and any sailor of the time would have told you the Earth was clearly round because as you see things off in the distance they seem to rise up. This is because of the curvature of the Earth. All Columbus was doing was trying to find a western route to India. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth#The_Myth_of_the_Flat_Earth

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Myth_of_the_Flat_Earth

In fact the only people that still believe the Earth is flat are a sect of Christians: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flat_Earth_Society They specifically say that they believe the round Earth to be "The idea of a spinning globe is only a conspiracy of error that Moses, Columbus, and FDR all fought…" I don't know if they mean Roosevelt but this is obviously in error.

Now, why would Christians think the Earth is flat? Well, in the Bible it says the Earth is both flat and unmoving along with many other erroneous concepts that show the books are nothing more than the ramblings of some ignorant desert dwellers. http://www.lhup.edu/~dsimanek/febible.htm

Some other scientifically idiotic ideas in the Bible: Global Flood is impossible; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9MPrtyIGE7Y, and a long list of other scientific absurdities found in the Bible: http://skepticsannotatedbible.com/science/long.html

So, essentially, the Bible is full of errors, lies, and immoral teachings. Sure, there are a few good things that Jesus says, but nothing that hadn't been said before. I find that you will accept that I have a unicorn in the yard with no proof very telling of how gullible you are. Obviously your religion is the product of the fact that you will believe whatever anyone tells you without question, except apparently that there is no god. However, I think I have given you some quite good evidence that your beliefs are untrue and I think you should delete your offensive video and post an apology.

As I mentioned previously, this is not a Christian country, it is a free country, so stop trying to force your ludicrous notions that have to evidence onto other people and stop suggesting that we do not deserve the same rights as you. I think I could make a good case for barring you from voting if this was a country in which there was an intelligence test to pass before being involved in the political process; however, this would not be right because I believe in freedom. I would say that if you don't like living in a free country that YOU should get the fuck out and go to some horrid little corner of the world with enforced religion if that is what you desire.

So, I have no idea what she will come up with next. The most insane part of all this is on a different video and in the comments section of this one she claims to be agnostic. I really don't know what to make of her. Hopefully she'll read what I've shown her and take the video down, but we shall see.
